Second Quality Plates

Category A plates are the end cut of rolled plates. The standard length of plates are mostly 12500 mm, however sometimes during the production process the plates are rolled further in the lengths of greater than 12500mm. In such instances, the mills cut the extra length to obtain the standard size required and the end cut is of no use for the mill and cannot be sold as primary steel plates due to its varied sizes. So these end cut plates are sold as secondary mild steel plates which are an economical option for clients who require small sizes of plates for various applications such as fabrication, a base for structures, machinery parts, equipment, etc.

Dimension and Grade

Category B Mild Steel plates are widely known or called as defective plates, rejected plates with R mark. These are Mild Steel plates that have failed in quality parameters such as size dimensions, chemical compositions, and mechanical properties. These defective plates are sold as category B defective plates. These plates are used in various applications that are generic and don’t require any stringent norms such as base plates, body frames, structure coverings, etc.
